SIP Trunking
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking enables you to connect your business’s private branch exchange (PBX) to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) using voice over IP (VoIP). Put simply, it is the Internet equivalent of a standard phone line. It offers several key benefits:
- SIP Trunking enables you to have PRI feature functionality on a dedicated IP connection with QoS or a public Internet connection, including:
- Caller ID
- Direct Inward Dialing (DID)
- Dynamic Call Routing
- Concurrent Call Sessions – simultaneous inbound and outbound
- Most numbers can be ported out of rate centers (from one exchange to another, for example), avoiding call-forwarding expenses
- Business continuity can be assured because SIP Trunking can be achieved through any Internet connection
- Can be an auto-backup for any standard line, providing business continuity and security
- SIP Trunking is fully scalable without purchasing additional hardware, once you have an IP phone system
